Sonder Wedding Workshop | Adventurous New England Wedding Photographer
Sonder (noun) // The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own - populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness; an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you'll never know existed, in which you might appear only once: as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.
Community. Creativity. Connection. These are the words that best describe my experience at the first Sonder Wedding Workshop, a day-long event for photographers to gather, learn and capture together.
Organized by Katie Salerno of KS Photography and Madeline Heising of Madeline Rose Photography Co., Sonder was made for the adventurous photographer; an artist on a journey to capture the madly in love. Knowing how perfectly this notion aligned with my own journey as a wedding and couples photographer, I signed on in a heartbeat and ventured out on one of the most bone-chilling days of the year to join a collection of photographers at Warehouse XI in Somerville, Massachusetts.
The workshop began with networking and introductions, where I met new faces and greeted a few familiar ones in the crowd. Next came the educational portion, where we discussed topics in business, branding, posing, client experience and others.
My favorite part? Three back-to-back styled shoots, each with a set of gorgeous models, stationary, florals, and catering. (Vendors listed at the end of this blog post.)
Each theme - bohemian, vintage lace, and modern bridal - was beautiful in its own right, made even more so by the energy, vibrance and love bursting from each bride and groom beyond the camera.
Below are some of my favorites from Sonder - named appropriately as a reminder that every person, artist, photographer and couple has their own complex and beautiful story, illuminated by the power of love.
Seacoast Maine & New Hampshire wedding photographer, Alanna Hogan Photography is for the adventurous. The free-spirited, carefree, wildly in love couple that welcomes the chance to climb mountains, play in the salt and in the sand, wander among the trees, and feel the wind swell about them like the ocean tide.
