Amanda + Brian | Intimate Backyard Mountain Wedding, New Hampshire
“We are now in the mountains and they are in us; kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us.”
How lucky am I to have been connected with Amanda and Brian.
If you've been following along on my photographic journeys, you might recognize these two from a very special mountaintop proposal, where I trekked up a couple 4,000 footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to meet Amanda and Brian at South Kinsman, as Brian got down on one knee among the clouds and asked Amanda to be his wife.
Amanda and Brian are avid hikers, and this momentous hike to South Kinsman concluded their final successful summit of the "NH 48" - a list of 4,000 footer mountains in the state set forth by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). With the close of one chapter, came the sweet beginning of a new one, as Amanda and Brian celebrated their engagement on cloud nine (quite literally), and it was a day none of us will ever forget.
We continued our celebrations with Amanda and Brian's backyard camp-style wedding, held at Amanda's family residence in New Hampton, New Hampshire. The day was complete with yard games, a pig roast buffet, heart rocks and driftwood, and a bonfire to cap off the night with a s'mores station and night snacks. Being the outdoor enthusiasts that they are, the couple invited their guests to camp out in tents following the wedding - and it sure did look like fun.
Amanda's younger brother Prentice served as officiant for the ceremony beneath a tree in the yard, which provided some shelter for their guests from a bit of rain showering the earth. (He killed it as officiant and had us all laughing - see photo proof below.)
I had been told by Amanda that the wedding's theme would be "nature, love and light" - and despite the lack of sunshine, the day embodied these themes perfectly. I had the best time getting to know these free spirits and their families while being part of such incredible occasions in their lives, cameras in hand.
Amanda and Brian - I hope you know how much fun I had adventuring with you this summer, and how much documenting your hearts has filled mine.
Wishing you many more summits together as husband and wife. I have a feeling this adventure will be your greatest yet!
How thoughtful of them to include a gift of mine at their guest table! I gave Amanda and Brian this custom tea towel around the time of their engagement, with a map of their final NH 48 hike and the coordinates of South Kinsman, the very peak where Brian proposed.
